Prompt set best practices

Designing a prompt set that tests what your buyers actually ask.

What makes a good AI Visibility prompt

The prompt set is the spec of what "visibility" means for your business. A bad set produces noise; a good set produces actionable gaps.

Three rules

  1. Use buyer language, not your language. Don't probe "Slope autonomous SEO platform" — nobody types that. Probe "best SEO tool for B2B SaaS founders" (what buyers actually ask).
  2. Mix comparison + alternatives + how-to. Comparison: "compare Slope vs Semrush". Alternatives: "alternatives to Surfer SEO". How-to: "how to find content decay opportunities".
  3. Include intent-bearing modifiers. "Best ___ for startups", "cheapest ___ with GitHub integration", "open-source ___ alternative". These reveal which segments LLMs put you in.

How many?

15-30 is the sweet spot. Below 10 you don't get statistical confidence on gaps. Above 50 you're paying for probes you won't act on.
